BETHESDA, Md. – September 29, 2026 – Brigadier General (Ret.) Johnnie L. Johnson Jr. brings nearly four decades of military leadership and operational experience to his role as Chief of Growth and Business Development at Diverse Systems Group (DSG), where he leads strategic growth, executive engagement, and business development supporting the Department of War, Defense Health, and Federal Civilian agencies.
Johnson’s career gives him a customer-side view of the defense market, including how mission requirements take shape, how technology is evaluated for operational use, and how major defense investments are prioritized. At DSG, that experience informs how the company approaches customers and identifies opportunities to support their missions.

During his 38-year Army career, Johnson commanded combat units from company to brigade level and held senior roles in operational command and Army resource planning. As Deputy Director of Operations at U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), he led 275 joint personnel in the Command’s Joint Operations Center and oversaw Joint and Combined Command and Control Systems Integration, Air and Missile Defense, and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems.
Johnson also led Department of Defense efforts to test, analyze, and evaluate more than 500 counter-unmanned systems valued at more than $6 billion. The work informed the development, procurement, and fielding of multi-domain warfighting capabilities.
Later, as Deputy Director of Program Analysis and Evaluation for Army G-8, Johnson directed development of the Army’s Program Objective Memorandum and supplemental funding for six functional portfolios totaling more than $800 billion over five years.
His Army career also included service as Deputy Commanding General for Maneuver of the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea, Executive Officer to the Commanding General of U.S. Army Pacific Command, and Chief of Staff of the Army Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Johnson currently serves as a Highly Qualified Expert and Senior Mentor at the U.S. Army War College.
